**Please read each item carefully. It will take you through your package step-by-step**

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Trailers weighing 1,999 lbs. or less will not be issued a Florida Title.

  1. NEW TRAILERS purchased through a dealership must submit the original Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin properly assigned by the selling dealer. (Copies will not be accepted.)
    USED TRAILERS purchased through a dealership or private individual must submit the original title properly signed by the seller and purchaser.

    NOTE: If the state does not title trailers, then the most current registration must be submitted along with a bill of sale. (Copies will not be accepted.)
    If the title is being held by your lien holder we will write a letter requesting they release it to our office. You will need to remit the lien holder's correspondence address and the account number.

  2. For all trailers purchased from a dealer the sales invoice from the selling dealer must accompany the application (a legible copy is acceptable.)

  3. A copy of the Driver's License for each owner must accompany the application for Florida title and/or registration. Application packets submitted without a legible copy of each owner's driver license will be returned to the sender.

    ***Sections 6,7,8,9,10,11 and 13 may not apply and may be omitted***

    SECTION 1: Owner/applicant identification must be accurately completed showing the complete name, address, sex, date of birth and the Florida driver's license number of the owner's and/or lessee, if applicable. This section also provides a space to indicate whether the names should be joined by "and" or "or". **IMPORTANT** A Florida street address MUST be given in order to title/register your trailer in the state of Florida. **E-mail address is being requested.

    SECTION 2: Trailer description must be completed in full showing all required information. Weight is required for all trailers. If the empty weight is not indicated on the title/registration a weight slip is required.

    SECTION 3: Trailer Status and Usage must be completed indicating how the trailer will be used.

    SECTION 4: Lienholder information must be completed showing the lienholder's name, address and date of lien, if applicable. ***THE FEID NUMBER FOR YOUR LIENHOLDER MUST ACCOMPANT THE APPLICATION FOR TITLE.***

    NOTE: A lien will only be recorded if the empty weight of the trailer is 2000 lbs. or more.

    SECTION 5: Transfer Type must be completed indicating how the trailer was acquired, the date acquired and if the trailer is new or used.

    SECTION 8: This section applies to trailers previously registered in another state with an empty weight of 2000 lbs. or more. (Trailers with a MCO do not need to be verified) No crossout, erasures or alterations will be accepted. A law enforcement officer must physically verify the trailer's ID number. The ID number must be identical to the number shown on this form. If an officer is verifying the VIN, the date, officer's signature, printed name and badge or ID number must be completed. If an out of state motor vehicle dealer is verifying the VIN, the verification must be submitted on their letterhead stationery.
    Military Personnel Only: A Provost Marshal (an officer who supervised the military police of command) or a commissioned officer in active military service with a rank of 2nd lieutenant or higher or an LNC, "Legalman, Chief Petty Officer, E-7" may verify the odometer and VIN number on your vehicle.

    SECTION 12: Applicant attestment and signatures must be signed by the applicant and co-applicant, if applicable.

    Florida sales tax is 6% of the purchase price with trade allowance given. Rebates are not discounts and cannot be deducted from the tax liability. Some individuals may be exempt from paying sales tax. Please see the Sales Tax Computation Chart for detials.

    Your remittance should be in the proper amount as indicated on the calculations of fees list made payable to Lisa Cullen, Tax Collector. Upon the receipt of the properly completed application, sufficient proof of ownership, bill of sale and the proper remittance will promptly issue a Florida registation. ALL IMCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE RETURNED TO THE SENDER. The Florida title (if applicable) will be sent to the owner (or the lienholder) once it has been issued by our state office in Tallahassee.
