County held certificates can be purchased in the Tax Collector's Office. The purchase price is the amount of the original certificate plus interest due to the date of purchase, plus $6.25 administrative fee. This will become the new face of the certificate at the time of purchase. The interest rate of the purchased certificate is 18%. You will be mailed an electronic listing for your purchases. Certificate buyers need to be aware that there are inherent risks involved with buying tax certificates, and those risks are borne by the certificate holder.

Due to recent transactions that resulted in payments being returned for insufficient funds, the Tax Collector's Office now requires that all payments regarding delinquent taxes shall be made in guaranteed funds (cashier's check, certified check, money order, cash, etc.). This includes all redemptions of delinquent taxes, purchases of tax certificates, and tax deed applications. This policy is in accordance with the Florida Department of Revenue, Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 12D-13.051.

To purchase a county certificate you must submit payment for the total purchase price along with a completed
W-9 form. The W-9 form should be completed in the name you wish to purchase certificates in, and have the address and social security number or employer ID of where the interest is reported and must also have an original signature. You can go to any Tax Collector Office and submit this information or you can mail the information to our Titusville Office, Attention Delinquent Taxes. Please provide a telephone number and/or e-mail address so that you can be reached if there are any questions. Click here to download a W-9 Form (PDF format)
